Every year on World Sight Day, L'Occitane sells a special soap to help raise fund to support the fight against avoidable blindness in developing countries. Indeed, almost 285 million people around the world are blind or visually impaired, even though 80% of blindness is avoidable!
In 2013, our solidarity soap raised almost € 190 000. These funds will be used by the L'OCCITANE Foundation to launch a new program with the NGO Sight Savers. Thanks to this project, 40 000 people will be treated.
The L'OCCITANE Foundation has launched a new project in Burkina Faso with the NGO Sight Savers. Its goal: eliminate onchocerciasis and trachoma (tropical diseases that can blind if untreated) in the Cascades region, southwest of Burkina Faso.
The L'OCCITANE Foundation supports the visually impaired and promotes women's entrepreneurship. With an annual budget of € 1 000 000, the Foundation finances around 15 projects every year.
Enriched with nourishing shea butter, our new solidarity soap has an apricot fragrance. 100%* of the profits from its sales will finance eye-health projects. *Retail price minus taxes, transport and production costs.
